I had a liteon and it kept going out every month when I would try to actually burn something it would slow the whole computer down. So I thought it was just the burner so I got this new samsung Ive had it less than a week and it has done the same thing. I dont know what it is or what to do!

Maybe it's your power supply. Best thing to do is bring your computer in for disgnostics with the new dvd drive in it. Then you'll know for sure what it is.

What brand is your computer? If it is still under warranty, get it in for repair. Return the new burner. Next time try using External Hard Drives to store your files. It is safer.
