Use a heat gun, or a hair dryer, to heat the tint and a razor scraper to remove the film. Use caution on the rear window if there is a rear defroster. You do not want to damage the defroster grid!

The reason that the tint is illegal is if a police officer pulls you over, they can not see a threat in the car. In my area, deep tinted windows are referred to as "drive by glass" because that is the tint that they find on vehicles involved in drive by shootings.

Not only does a deep tint create a safety problem for the police, it also will reduce your ability to see at night, which can lead to accidents!!

I got a ticket as well last year, but I live in Atlanta, Ga. Our officers have this device they put on your window and it gives the percentage. I didn't think mine was that dark either. From what I understand, if you were to put your license up to your window and it is not visible, your tint is too dark. Check with the police department to see what is the limit for window tinting.

You should be able to start peeling it off from any corner, but you may need a razor blade to get it started. After it is off Wal Mart carries a remover that is in automotive (in the same area where the window tint is sold) that will remove the glue that is left on the window. It will take some elbow grease but it will come off.

The only effective way of removing window tint is to scrape it off with a razor blade. It's a pain in the butt, but it works.

It depends on how it was applied. If it's a film type a single edge razor blade should help you peel it off.Start at one corner and scrape it until you can get a grip on it and just pull it off.If it was sprayed on then you are going to need to get some paint thinner and a razor scrapper.Apply the thinner liberally with a rag and then scrape it off with the razor scrapper. It may take several applications of thinner and repeated scrapings to get it all off.

I got a ticket for that once too! What a bullsh*t ticket! I took the tint off myself and then went to the court date. I told the judge I had taken it off and he dropped the ticket. Didn't even ask for proof.

first off.....any window tint not installed at the factory is illegal here in wisconsin. but to take it off is easy......they make a special solvent to do this. check your local parts store that carries window tinting products. they should have it

You can peel it off,but the glue it's attached with is hard to get off.Take it to a tint company and they can make it look good !

I use to sell used cars and did this frequently and for me the cheapest and eaisest way to do it was soaking a rag in some gas and scrubbing it off. The Razor takes too long for me.

best bet is to get an inspection style scraper and start scraping. I just did it on my girlfriends car...she was from arizona and the local cops around here dont like it. :-)
