The GPSMAP 60CSx is at the top end of hunter GPS units. You can read about it at http://www.garmin.com/products/gpsmap60csx/
Others come with radios and so forth. Remember these are good as long as someone else is on the other end of the radio link. A cellphone is a much better choice than a radio assuming you have "bars."
If the 60CX is a bit too much, use the Garmin links to look at their other products. A really neat GPS device will allow the hunter to keep a record of where he/she locates scrapes and ruts prior to the opening of hunting season. Try to include this in your device.

I would look for a hand held unit that has an internal electronic compass. Most hand held GPS units do not, so you have to be moving, sometimes depending on the area 5-6 miles an hour to get a good indication of the direction of travel. A hand held with the internal electronic compass can give directions standing still like a standard compass. From Garmin, it would be the eTrex Summit, Vista and anything that has the CS with the name
