since no one (i think) really knows in what direction they are going, then no one can control it, but everything you do changes the course of things so you can change your direction but you can't control it

I suppose this is why they say that neither philosophy nor religion can answer everything by themselves, but together, there isn't much that they can't answer.
As a Christian, I believe that we are all given freewill. God gave us freewill so that we can willingly accept or reject him. That, after all, is the only way love can truly exist. And if you let it, God, love, and relationships can be your meaning of life. The other path is yourself, and what you think will make you the happiest in this life. You can always change the path your on, but do so whole heartedly.

Integrity is not a conditional word. It doesn't blow in the wind or change with the weather. It is your inner image of yourself, and if you look in there and see a man who won't cheat, then you know he never will.”~John D. McDonald

“I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”

Only if your chosen direction is not true as you conceive it in your self, but even then you need true knowledge to know that. Happy is that one who arrives at the chosen place, wether it is the believed place or not. Or sad; why was it chosen.
