If money is not an issue for your parents, then you're OK to ask for something you really want.

It's not like your asking for a car like a lot of teens ask for on their 16th birthday.

Hey I asked for an Ipod nano 2gb. I got one too. I mean, if it is the only thing you are asking for, then you are not being sellfish at all! I guess it also depends on what you normally would get from your mom on christmas. Would she normally spend $150 on you on a bunch of little things, or close to it? I combined the Ipod nano for my birthday and christmas from my dad, who normally spends $50 for each....but he spent a little extra to get what I really wanted. Good luck I hope you get it!

It depends on how much money your parents make and how many expenses your family incurrs monthly. If you are an only child i would say no its not a bad gift,if you had 3 siblings an dyour parents work for minimum wage i would say yes it is a little expensive. Also you need to think seriously to your self if you really desrve it.That should be the decision making process in your gifts.

I got a mini a couple Christmases ago when they were like $250 and I felt really bad asking my parents for that, but they were ok with it so I'm glad that I asked instead of just not saying anything. I guess it just depends on your family's money situation though. It's worth a try so I say go for it.

Well you can ask for whatever you really want. But if I were you, I'd ask for another MP3 player that is cheaper and does the same thing. I bought one from Walmart for $40.00 and it's great. It's not as fancy but does the same thing.
You sound like a great daughter. =)
Merry Christmas.

How does this compare to what they spent on you last year? Have you asked for anything else? How much do they need to spend on your brothers and sisters (if any)?

If they spent something like $140-$150 on you last year, and it is the *only* thing you are asking for, then it doesn't sound too bad.

I don't think it is selfish. I asked for an Ipod as well, but I'm not expecting it, because money is an issue for my family. So honestly, you asked for it, just don't get your hopes up. It is not selfish to ask, it would be selfish to get upset if you didn't get it.

Tell them other things you would like too that are cheaper. That gives them a choice according to how much they want to spend, and it gives you a surprise.
