Does anyone have an accurate meaning of Pink Floyd's Brain Damage?

I'm doing a report on the song and I 'm reading a lot of meanings but it's all speculation, does anyone know a site of know the meaning of this song with a good source?

It's about mental illness and the looney bin. Syd Barrett, the original lead singer went off the deep end due to alcohol and drug abuse. All of their albums upt to The Wall are about how they delt with this.
