If he was a predator he never would have been able to catch anything with all this bellowing. i suspect he was behaving more like his close cousin the alligator.those documentaries make him look silly

There is no way to know...

If a T-Rex did have vocal cords they would have deteriorated when it died (soft tissue).

How ever I would guess probably not. Making sound is expensive that's why animals that can make vocal noise usually only use it for attracting a mate, for defense or community interaction. Most reptiles are not able to make any vocal noise beyond hissing.

The reason why it's always screaming its lungs out on tv is it makes the t-rex look more ferocious.
