2. Duane Allman (Allman Brothers Band)
3. Stephen Stills (Buffalo Springfield + Crosby, Stills, Nash (and Young))
4. Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits)
5. Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac)
Actually, if i could even play guitar i'd be happy. But just because i can't play it doesn't mean i don't understand it, and i reckon these five are not too shabby. Of course, all the ones suggested by everyone else are great guitarists as well.

I personally have no worries about playing like these five because I already can. 1. Jimmy Page 2.Joe Satriani 3. Stevie Ray Vaughan 4. Carlos Santana 5. Dimebag Darrell Abbott. Those are the next five I am working on.

Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin (Mahavishnu Orchestra) are my favorites. In fact, they did an album together (Love, Devotion, Surrender).
