Can anyone please provide any information about Penn State? Specifically, their pre-med program or how good the college itself is.

You can read up on Penn State at: its website, www.collegeboard.com, US News & WAorld Report's College Ranking website (pay for premium content), www.princetonreview.com, and in the Fiske Guide to Colleges. I happen to have a copy of the latter right here and it says that Penn State is rated 4 1/2 stars (out of 5) on its "academics," 5 out of 5 on "social life" and 3 out of 5 on its "quality of life." It says Penn State's strongest programs are in Meteorology, Geography, Engineering/Engineering Technologies, Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, Mathmatics, Social Sciences and Business. It says that schools that "overlap" with Penn State include; University of Pittsburgh, Temple, University of Maryland, Indiana University (PA), University of Delaware and Rutgers. This means that if you like characteristics of this school, these others have many things in common with it and could be worth a look as well.

Good luck!

I agree it is unfair to punish the players who really had nothing to do with this, but at the same time, I don't feel that Penn State should be allowed to play football. That sends a message to the rest of the system that no matter what, football and profits are all that matters. It is also clear that the cover up of Sandusky's actions was deliberate, based at least partially on protecting the football program and the money it represented to the university. I suggest the for the next 5? 10? seasons, Penn State has no football team. During this time: * Penn State will honor all sports scholarships, even if players don't play. * All money from the sale of Penn State (football) memorabilia will go to organizations to help fight child abuse * The players will continue to play as a team...but not as Penn State. They will be a school-less, independent team. Their uniforms will not say "Penn State" on them. * Home games will still be played at the Penn State stadium, but again, ALL money generated by these games - tickets, concessions, etc etc - is donated. * Any money that Penn State was awarded in the form of broadcast rights, royalties, etc. is subject to the same conditions. Maybe even level a fine equivalent to the entire revenue generated by the football team for the past decade or 2 to cover the time that Sandusky was on the staff. Personally I would honestly consider closing down the football program on a permanent basis once Penn State has met all of its external football-related contractual responsibilities. It is clear that Penn State's administrators let football and money cloud their judgement. So by removing this influence, hopefully the administration can focus on making proper decisions again.
