Natural Fiber such as the kind found in fruits and vegetables with a rigid texture.

Fiber is essentially cell walls made from cellulose. Your body works harder to digest it so it kicks your digestive system into overdrive since the muscles have to push harder to work against and break down the cell walls. The result is that when you eat something without cell walls (IE: meat or poultry) your body is still on overdrive and works the food through your system at a significantly faster rate.

Fiber supplements can help, but there is no substitute for natural sources. Chow down on some carrot or celery sticks. Apples are great too.

Some things I can think of are prunes, prune juice, eating a handful of shelled pecans, drinking coffee, coffee enema. There is also somehting called saltwater flush. This is where you put 1-2 rounded tablespoons of sea salt in a liter of water (about a quart), mix it , and drink it all within 20 minutes. It should flush out your intestines, but it will do so within two hours, so be near the W.C. if you do saltwater flush.

Be well.

To use a laxative is to remedy the SYMPTOM and not the CAUSE. Modern medicine is just like modern food is has to be FAST. If you want to get to the root of the problem start giving your digestive system a REST.
1. Start FASTING during several consecutive days in this simple way. Don't eat anything between your breakfast and your dinner.
2. Have oatmeal for breakfast besides whatever fruit you like.
3. Drink Chinese Green tea. It cleans your body of the toxins or free radicals and has lots of other benefits.
Google "chinese green tea " and you will be convinced.

My goodness, Raisin Bran Cereal of course or 100% Bran there are also Bran Muffins, but they often have unhealthy fats in them, so making your own seems to be the best answer. Increasing fiber in the diet by adding lots of vegetables and fruits 5 servings of each per day . Normal BM in no time at all. Get well soon.

A great laxative that is completely natural is flax seeds. You can eat them in bread or ground up in yogourt (any flavor will do) and flax seeds are great because they don't taste anything really.

If you are taking in more fiber, you need to be certain that you are drinking more water. If you don't, the fiber will have an adverse effect and block you up.

Prune juice is always good too, but make certain that when you drink it, you stay near a bathroom, as it will work quite quickly..

A few things could work there is "smooth move" tea which contains Senna (which is in licorice). If you eat more fiber that will work too (leafy vegetables, broccoli, oatmeal (old fashioned), prunes). Also walking works, and drinking a lot of water. If you eat a lot of fiber without water it won't work. Juice Plus pills work too - they are an all natural whole food supplement.

I take a teaspoon of psyllium husk powder and a teaspoon of modified citrus pectin powder mixed in a glass of juice every morning...it is very effective, and the pectin also removes heavy metals from your body and prevents cancer. (note: this is not the kind of pectin you put in jams - you'd find both supplements in the fiber section of a vitamin/health food store. grapefruit or apple pectin will also work). Also, a glass of water with half a lemon squeezed into it first thing in the morning might help a little.

Chocolate ice cream always helped me. Foods with fiber usually helps a lot as well, such as cereal or salads.

NATURAL - orange juice.
If you want an adverse affect on your body, then the licorice etc works, but they are too harsh.
