I just started a new sales job. I have a sales background but I lost alot of confidence in my last job. I had just moved to a new city and things were just so different from what I was used to. I went from being a top dog to bottom of the barrel. I hate being on the bottom.

My competitve streak has always benefited me in sales. But lately it has gotten hard for me to get over rejections. Rejections, at one time, didn't bother me at all. I am so scared of failing I am practically paralyzed.

I like sales but I think I need a change in attitude if I am ever going to get back on top again.

Please help.

You have to learn to embrace rejection and realize it is a numbers game . write your goals down , make copies put them on your fridge, bedroom, car. Keep them in front of you as much as possiable. In order for you to carry on you need to know your whys. I hope this helps.

If you truly "think" you need a change of attitude, then you do. Otherwise, your "attitude" is perfectly fine.

To REGAIN YOUR CONFIDENCE, set yourself up to win.

Establish goals for yourself that you know you can achieve.

Then, get busy achieving "your" goals.

Ignore the goals that others set for you.

Stay focused on doing the things that bring "predictable" results.

By the way... What happened that caused you to loose confidence in your ability to sell? Send me an email. I'd really like to know.

You'll snap out of your funk. Right now, nothing could go right for you. This feeling, nevertheless, only last a short time. Could be the holidays that is getting you down. Just ride out this downswing. Soon enough, you'll be on your feet again and selling everything including teeth to the crocodiles.
