Indeed it is a race and there are winners. Hebrews 12:1 says "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race set before us." I Corinthians 9:24 says "Know you not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain." How do we receive this prize? By accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour and following Him. He already is the winner. Following Him guarantees our prize!

I think your just being silly, but if you really don't have a dictionary then buy one and you'll notice that many word have different meanings depending on the context they are used.
Example
Race - noun. "1, a contest or effort to reach a goal first; a rush. 2, a rapid current of water. 3, an ethical, tribal, or national stock."

that is a good one. I think it's just a cultural term. People should be viewed by nationality or ethnicity if anything.
