I need help with the questions:
A. $24 - $18 and B.120cm to 144cm

i know the answers because i have an answer key. sorry, i wasn't clear enough. i would just like to know how to work out the problem.

The first step is to determine what one percent of the original number would be. Such as in problem A, one percent of $24 would be .24. Then you take $18 and divide it by .24 (18/.24). You will get that 18 is 75% of 24. Which means the difference between 100% and 75% is 25%.
Another way to do this, and in my opinion is easier, is to reduce the two numbers as a fraction. Take problem B, and make it a fraction (120/144) 12 goes into both of those numbers to reduce it to 10/12 you can reduce that further to 5/6. Which is 83.33% so the difference there is 17.66%

To find the percent change take the second number minus the first number and then divide the first numer. Multiply by 100 to change the fraction into a percent.
$24 to $18
(18-24)/24 = -6/24 = -.25 = -25%
The negative sign shows that it went down.
120cm to 144 cm
(144-120)/120 = 24/120 = .20 = 20%
The positive sign shows that it went up.
