What about Sean Penn, Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis, Denzel Washington, Anthony Hopkins.....etc.etc.

Tom Cruise had the potential to become one of the greatest actors of ALL time. Then came 'Top Gun'. Since then he gave up acting for being a 'movie star'. Wasted talent.

Hell No.. Tom Cruise is trapped in the closet. The greatest actor is with out a doubt...Keanu Reeves !!!! And he would kick Cruise's AZZ any day of the week. For Cruise never saved the princesses

Best actor of our time...I don't think so!!! David Strathairn, Anthony Hopkins, Jack Nicolson, Tom Hanks, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, Denzel Washington are better actors in my opinion.

I strongly disagree! Tom Cruise is mediocre actor with a penchant for being a media whore. Plus, he's attached to the all evil of Hollywood, the Church of Scientology.

Not even close. The problem is Tom Cruise is always Tom Cruise. The same problem that Sean Connery has.
Robert DeNiro, and Matt Damon my be the best of our time.

best actor, no but he is the highest paid.
the best actor of our time is a very difficult question, and depending on who you ask it could be anyone depending on their tastes. my personal choice is jeff bridges
