Well, through iTunes Music Store is pretty much the only legal way to do that. First download and install iTunes from this link:
www.apple.com/itunes
once installed, open it up and go to Music Store.
Each song is .99 cents
but if you dont want to pay the 99 cents, there is an illegal way.. You can download Limewire.. it is illegal and has been known to slow down systems. (not recommended)

if you have iTunes. which should come with a CD that comes with your iPod. (if not, download it from the Apple Website) you are able to download music through to your iPod. iTunes is the only way that you can put music onto your Ipod, i have tried other ways unsuccessfully.
