Man, this kkk guy just spreads his ignorance all over this site. To answer your question, I believe during the early 80's the number of gay men dying of aids was quite high. Fastforward 20 + years and although every kind of person you can think of is getting aids: white, black, asian, hispanic, straight, gay, adults, children, elderly, etc. Despite this, people are still going to associate gay men with getting aids because that is what they remember. Some are even sick enough to believe that aids is a disease given to gay men because of the life they are living. This is an absurd idea, mainly because the percentage of gay men dying of aids is just a portion of all of the other groups being affected by this horrible disease.

My guess is because AIDS was originally called "the gay disease."
Back when AIDS appeared it was the gay community that was hit first. And fundies and evangelicals decided to interpret this as God's way of punishing gay people. Well since that was only 25 years ago there are still a lot of people in the country who remember that time and so they still associate being gay with getting AIDS.

They're lunkheads who don't care enough to educate themselves about HIV infection. They use is as a cheap insult to gay men but they don't bother to learn about the huge AIDS epidemic in Africa and Asia among heterosexuals. These people are idiots who talk out of their a*ses.

Thank the religious right as well as conservative talk radio.
I suppose you don't remember Pat Robertson getting national media coverage for saying that AIDS was God's revenge for being homosexual?

Yes I know. Poor misconception. A girlfriend of mine has AIDS, and she got it from her drug-using boyfriend. She's been on coctail drugs for some 4 yrs now. I don't know what became of him. She informed him to have himself tested and he refused.

Because there are teachers like the one I had, who said,"AIDS is a lifestyle choice."
If you believe that something bad happens to people because they are certain way, and you aren't that way, then you can falsely believe that you are safe.
