Warcraft II on new computer?

How do I make Warcraft 2 work on newer computer? I installed it, and the window pops up that lets me choose map editor, or play warcraft. When I click play, the screen goes black, and then 5 seconds later, it goes back to windows. What's wrong?

What version of Warcraft 2 are you using?

The original DOS version does NOT work.

The Battle.net edition of warcraft 2 works perfectly.

You have a firewall on your new computer go to control panel and change your settings, everything should be fine.
