The network studio hires speech coaches. The speech coaches are with the stars at all times during shoots to make sure that they say everything correctly and authentically.

To a Briton, American is an accent.
It's just the same as an American speaking with a British accent. Practice, and often training with a vocal coach.

there is a technique. Just like people from India learn 'american' english even tho they were taught 'british' english. They use their tongue throughout their dialect and americans use their jaw. Some take linguistic classes. If you werent raised here you may not know how to speak in a certain regional dialect.

Believe it or not, there are actually people who get paid specifically to teach accents. They're called, not surprisingly, accent coaches.

Some people are naturally gifted(?) and can hide or diminish their accent, or even pick up a new one, without any coaching but most people would have a hard time doing it.
