tell her that if she's too focused on one threat then she'll end up forgetting the other threats out there. Also you can say that you're not going to meet anyone you don't know. Finally say that there are many threats out there and there's no point running from them but just be cautious.

Your mom doesn't seem to know a lot about myspace. So maybe ask some of your friends if they wouldn't mind letting your mom see their myspace pages and then your mom could get a better idea what it is all about. You can set your myspace page(if you get one) to private that way only people you allow can see your page. This might make your mom fell better. Other then that I would just try to explain to her that you simply want one to connect with your friends and that you promise to be responsible about it. Good Luck!

what she said above, but be sure it's private. That way your mom can't even look it if she does suspect it's yours, and also it prevents the weirdos from looking at your profile. If you want her approval, try to convince her it is generally safe, especially with a private account as long as you don't accept friend requests from strangers. Myspace is completely safe when it is done correctly.

myspace isnt as bad as people think. there is a bunch of security settings that you can put onto your account and profile. you can make it so that only your friends can view your account, you can check peoples messages before they are put onto your page and you can decline any friends that you dont want to be on your friends list. the security possiblities are endless on myspace. all you have to do is be careful of who you add and dont add.

Your mom is right if you are young. I am 54 and I have an account there and someone called me a pervert there so I would say stay away.

If you are in High School I would recommend myyearbook.com. It was started by 2 high school students.

Tell your mom to look at it with you and decide.

sorry to say this to you, but myspace causes alot of problems. from personal expericence i can tell you that i wanted one and i signed up. after a couple of days i found myself on there all the time. then i started to have problems with other people because of comments, and pictures. i ended up deleting my account and it was for the best. i think that it would be better not to have one..sorry

prove to her that its safe and nothing will happen if u get one, if someone wants to meet u that u dont like u can block or reject them. it is safe and u can show her the licence agreement. Explain to her why u wnat one and make it a good explanation!

You can make your profile private and only let people you know on your friends list. Tell her that you will do that, and she can check it for you and stuff..
