What do you people think of an organization of non-religious people? Do you think it's time for non-religious people to organize and begin to gain political and social clout?

In response to this: "but I also think it's snobbish to use an adjective like "bright" as the name of any organization of group."

You're right it might seem snobbish, however, the name is -not meant- to be associated with the definition of the word "bright" relating to intelligence. It is not meant to suggest that people who fit the definition of a bright are more intelligent than others, or that those who are not "brights" are less intelligent.

It is unfortunate that some people may misinterpret this and feel that it means more than it does.

I think non-religious people are underepresented in certain societies such as the US and should stand together somehow, but I also think it's snobbish to use an adjective like "bright" as the name of any organization of group.

Update: Whether the name was meant by its founders to be associated with "intelligent" is one thing; what everyone else sees is a different matter. I just call it as I see it, which seems to be a common perspective: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brights#Criticism
