I started elijah on solids last week, hes now on 2 solids per day, of just over half the jar each feeding.

He hsa 4 bottles (230mls), but with the day two, he will only drink about half, and at night if very fussy, will drink most, but it takes ages. His morning one is the only good one, he will drink the whole lot.

Im not sure wether i should drop the solids until 6 months, hes 5m1w. Any advice?

Stick with what you are doing The more solids the better (and of course that will be less bottles but it all balances out nutritionally)..........he's drinking less because he's eating more this is a good thing

Introducing solids at this age is fine, but be aware that there is less nutrition in the solid food than in the formula. Your baby needs a minimum of 30 ounces a day (about 750mls)
divided into 3 or 4 portions (can be in a sippy cup or bottle, so long as he drinks it). Cereal should be mixed with formula to provide the necessary nutrients. If you think solids are interfering with baby's appetite, feed the formula first, and then offer solids until he is full. He may only take a few bites of the solids. That's OK. As he grows, he will eat more and more.
Remember to try only one new food at a time, for 3 days, to make sure he's not allergic to the new food.

I would drop the solids for now. Or you can try dropping the 2nd feeding if its the night bottle he is fussy with and wont drink. If is still having the same problem then drop the solids completely for a few weeks. Right now all he needs is the nutrients from his formula so its not gonna hurt to drop the solids and wait. I started my son early on solids but when he stopped drinking as much formula the doc told me to stop. He said its more important that he get the right amount of formula a day than the solids.

I gave my kids cereal well before they were actually supposed to according to the Dr's. It never hurt them. It filled them up and they are all very healthy young adults. Rice cereal was to start. You baby is of the age he should be getting some solids. Does he have teeth? Go to Gerber.com and there is a list of ages and types of food for them. I would think that 5 months is too old for just a bottle.

it relatively is established and whilst your infant is hungry he/she will consume. in case you already know every person interior the united kingdom they have a organic teething powder that works brilliently yet regrettably no save I even have considered in North usa sells it. in case you infant is relatively that fussy attempt those teething toys which you would be able to put in the refrigerator to make it chilly or some tempra to help with the discomfort. some infants are greater fussy than others yet they gained't starve themselves so basically save attempting with the food and milk. My infant went by way of a era the place he basically grew to grow to be choosy to what i replaced into giving him so basically attempt to combine it up. it is going to pass so basically draw close in there!

With both my boys when they were at that age my dr told me to add a bit of cereal into their bottles. You may have to open the nipple hole a little bit bigger but they will be full faster. After that I moved on to cereal with a bit of fruit added. Then the jars of food and juices. They won't drink as much during this transition as they are getting full faster.

dont force him to drink, and since hes on solid i doubt very much if he go back . keep him on it and when he gets thirsty he will drink his bottle. even if he doesn't drink it all at least hes getting some of it.
