First off there is no constructive way right now. We are in a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation over there. We are going to have to see this one through whether we like it or not!!!
You saw what happened to Israel because they with drew from Lebanon. And how they lost the public opinion war. the same will happen to us. If that happens no American will be safe anywhere in the world.
We are dealing with people and a religion who are still socially in the Dark and Middle ages. And who believe if they die fighting the Infidel they automatically go to heaven. And who have deep hatred between the different sects of that religion.
A good correlation to what we are facing over there is Northern Ireland and the war between the Catholics and protestants and how long it went on. And the hatred it caused between the Protestants and Catholics there.
Study the history of that region over there and you will see this is one conflict we can not just walk away from ever how much we want to.
What you can try doing is praying even if you are an atheist.

There is a problem, and that is the war in Iraq, we need a solution to this problem. We can't stay there forever and what will happen when we leave regardless of when that is, will happen. Iraq really should have a role in this decision as to when we should leave. But they need to step up, they need to do their part, I know that they didn't ask for this and their lives were actually better under Saddam, but they need to get out of denial and take charge of their own destiny. I would work on the three factions of Iraq, the Sunni's, the Shites, and the Kurds. I would ask each one what they want, then I would try to see if there was a place to compromise. I would put as much time as needed in teaching compromise if that is what you ask. The pen can be truly mightier then the sword my friend.

“The man of wisdom is never in two minds about right and wrong; the man of benevolence never worries about the future; the man of courage is never afraid.”
I don't know why I'm quoting him here, it just seems appropriate.
I agree with you on getting troops home, however.
