Ten years ago or more, I remember it snowing around the beginning of November. Now its mid-December and the weather has gotten very cold, then cold and even up to mild, and the repeated again. Snow for the past few years hasn't come until January, and I'm just wondering why. By the way I live very close to Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Shifting weather patterns.

Weather patterns are continually changing, naturally. Weather gets warmer, weather gets colder. Seasons come and go earlier and later.

In 1849 the Donner party was trapped by a winter that started about three weeks early and was the worst on record.

That record held for 100 years, until 1949, when the winter season again came early, and was severe. A train was trapped on Donner Pass for over a week before they could get it out. Those people were luckier than the Donner party since modern machinery was able to rescue them- a snow blower to clear tracks and pull them out, a modern kitchen and a food supply (which was nearly used up when they were rescued).

The polution we create every day, such as automobile exhaust, emissions from factories and all the airborne byproducts from manufacturing are puting a lot of charbon dioxide and other polutants in the air.
This excess charbon dioxide blocks some of the suns rays that would normally reflect back into space causing the atmosphere to heat more than it should.
This extra trapped heat from the sun is causing global warming thus shortening our winters and increasing the number of very hot days during the summer.

I know it's very sad, Its called global warming.

But hell, I could use some of it right now, here's why!

I am stranded in my house in Broomfield, co snowed in by 4 feet of snow, and not to mention i have 6 little kids with me!

Gee, whys it so bad?

For one, all my power/heating is out except my battery powered laptop.
For another, My kids are ages 6, 4, 4, 3, 2, and 13 days!
Two of them are barfing their guts out and I can't even see anything in this house, I'm using my laptop as a light source!

It's 10 whole degrees f outside and about 45 in my house!

Yep, global warming sounds good!

Last year, here in Connecticut, we got our first snowfall in mid-
November Here it is mid-December and we have yet to see
so much as a flake.

The reason is changing weather patterns. But fear not, we have
set no records.

Weather cycles change for many many reasons not the least of
which is planetary wobble and the position of the moon.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a nice day.

Thank you very much, while you're up!!!!!!

It takes moisture to snow, it just has not been warm enough to cause water to evaporate off the lakes
