I own two fords. Don't go to the dealership unsless it is under warranty. Take it to a specialized transmission shop. They are way cheaper and nicer and less hassel.....

It's not a big deal to do but it is a messy job trying to lay under a truck and drop a full transmission pan. The filter is easy it snaps on and off. If you do it yourself, you might save ten or fifteen bucks but that's about all. For the money you will save it's a lot easier to take it in to a transmission shop or oil change place. It isn't worth the trouble to save a few bucks.

I wouldn't recommend messing with this tranny. They are not owner friendly. Does it have a dipstick? Some require filling with a special tube. They are a pain. How many miles? You can have a mechanic do it for 60 bucks. If it's showing signs of trouble, find a different tranny. Good luck.

you can prob. get the filter and fluid from us for about $20 or so or get it from local parts store for about $30 or so.

Its pretty easy to change... but messy. simply drop the pan, drain fluid, swap filter out and replace the pan, then add fluid and you are ready to go. should replace the filter every 30K miles or so.

thanks and good luck.
