One would be tempted to say 1000 but the correct answer is 1024 because computers use binary numbers 2^10 is 1024 and not 1000.

How many Megabytes are in a Gigabyte? In theory 1000, but 1 byte is equal to 8 bits, so...
1 megabyte (M / MB) = 2^20 bytes = 1,048,576 bytes
1 gigabyte (G / GB) = 2^30 bytes = 1,073,741,824 bytes
