I like reading memoirs about, like, drug users and addicts and mentally ill people (but NOT Kay Redfield Jamison's memoir--it sucked. But Night Falls Fast is a really good book on suicide--it's scientific but interesting.)
The Noonday Demon is the all-time best book I've ever read about depression. It's incredible. Andrew Solomon. Read it. It's big and kinda wordy, but totally worth it.
