So let's recap: Your argument is that you were driving carelessly by not making necessary precautions to ensure that you can see everything around you and be able to make safe and calculated decisions, in addition you were driving carelessly by not giving due regard to the movement and flow of all the traffic around you. You also argue that you were speeding by driving too fast for conditions, and are fully aware that your speed was not appropriate for the surrounding conditions, and that unless you see a turn signal, you do not need to be cautious in YOUR movements so that you do not get into an accident....do I have that about right? You see, the point I am making is that every argument you have implicates you to be at fault for another ticket that you could have received. I am surprised you only got a ticket for following too close, and not an all encompassing charge like careless driving. I am not trying to be cruel, just trying to open your eyes to what the judge will think if you do try and argue your ticket. You WILL NOT win. You have no excuse for not being a responsible driver. If you make every excuse in the book in court, without ever taking responsibility that you should have been more careful and aware, the judge could very well throw some nasty fines and community service your way to teach you a lesson. Go in and be humble. Trust me.

Well, when you get pulled over, LISTEN to what the cop says. They almost always screw up what they tell you. For instance...
If the cop says he "clocked you", but he was either sitting still or came from the other side of the highway, you can fight it. He can't possibly "clock" you unless he's driving in the same direction as you.
If he says he got you on radar, but you get a ticket that indicates "laser" (they use lasers a lot now), you can fight it.
I know it's semantics, but believe me, it works. The cops have to be straight up with you or they get their tickets thrown out.
If you need an excuse, you can always say that you were on the way somewhere for some kind of emergency (someone called you and was very distressed). Many judges will understand that.
If you were simply driving on a trip though, you may be out of luck. If you are from out of state or out of town, they'll know that you're just fishing for an excuse.
Good luck!

nothing.....just pay the ticket and be resposible. i can tell that you need to grow up. they can clock you from any direction.....the computers in the car calibrate you speed compared to the speed of the patrol car. if two cars are traveling at each other at 55 and one car has radar it will read the speed as 110 mph....now the computer in the cop car will know what speed he is going and subtract that from the over all speed. so if he was going 65 and you were going 86 the computer would of saw an over all speed of 151 mph.......thats how it works. ps......radar detectors do not work by the time the detector is tripped by thier radar, laser or vg-2.....the signal has already been sent back and they know .......nice info

Sorry my friend I am a notorious speeder and I haven't found anything that works. The only time I got out of a ticket was when I was begging and literally on the verge of tears and they weren't fake. I hate MOST cops, they abuse their authority. Yeah, I know speeding is wrong and dangerous but some cops act like you just killed their unborn child or something. Recently I got stopped twice in the same week for nothing! A state trooper stopped me and said he thought that I didn't have my seat-belt on- which i did. I said I always have my seat-belt on! He was so condescending and patronizing and was like "oh, I'll let you go." Damn straight he's let me go, I didn't do anything, now that's harassment!

Pay a lawyer to negotiate it to a non-moving violation. That is your best bet. You will pay an increased fine, but it no longer goes on your driving record. Oh, btw...that is a very lame excuse. I think that excuse is older then the car itself.
