When the NHL put the All-Star game in the fans' hands, they're saying to us that it's our game; we can send who we want to it. I'm sure that the NHL won't stop Fitzpatrick from playing in it but I'm also sure that Rory won't go even if he has more votes than any other D.
In a few interviews, he seemed like he was just tired of it and didn't want any part in it. No way he would go.

There are two possible reasons the commisioner will react to this.
1. He will let Rory play. He will say that Rory represents the fan and this is a fans game
OR
2. He won't let Rory play and replace him with Nick Lidstrom. He'll be like that Scott dude from that South Park episode.

He wont go. Thats the bottom line, the All-Star game is a game where the most talented player show their skills not for players that gets 0 points in 18 games to play for fun. He probably wont even go himself. Fitzpatrick sucks, maybe if he go to the all-star game for the minors, he might still some "All-Star Icetime"

They will let him play and change the voting next year.
I'm sorry but fans don't know shat about what a player ACTUALLY brings to a team. They vote with their bias, current player statistics and ignorance.
People who work in the NHL (even the media which is what the NBA does) who know what the hell they are talking about should decide

If they replace him, the fans will be absolutely pissed!!
If my opinion, the players that are on the All-Star teams are there because the fans voted them there. If the fans want a player (even if that player has no points and barely any penalty minutes...and ....in my opinion hasn't really done anything extraordinary)...then let him in!!
The All-Star game is for the fans...let the fans make the choice.

Hopefully the NHL would decide not to continue with fan voting..The All Stars should be picked by the players and management

For the sake of the players who deserves to have a spot in the All Star Game and who's actually got a talent, he should decline it. He doesn't deserve it.

The coaches of the all star teams do also add other members to the team that weren't voted on.....so even if he does make it there will be others added to be played in front of him.

They will probably change the voting for next year, make it more like the NFL has it to where players and coaches votes are worth more.
