Call me an intellectual elitist, but are people getting dumber? Just reading the questions and answers posted here makes my head hurt. I make plenty of errors myself, but seriously... The internet is a cesspool. I love it, but is one huge f-ing cesspool.

I agree with you. What really gets to me is the fact that there's a built-in spell checker here. How long does it take to click on that icon? I make mistakes too, but what I see here is truly sad. Really sad.

Maybe you are not an elitist, but an elite?
It's a sad but unavoidable fact, that 50% of the population has an I.Q. under 100.
In truth, almost everyone has an I.Q. below 120 (around 90%).
If you are getting the opinion that most people are idiots, you are probably above that 120.
Now here's the hard part, the difference between normal (90-110) and 120. is about the same as the difference between chimpanzees and normal humans.
Don't know how old you were when you asked this 7 years ago, but you are in for a lot of fun.
Welcome to intellectual hell Tarzan.

No, you're not an elitist. I've been an educator for years and what I see is that kids are getting sharper about computers, but in general, grammar, reading and writing, critical thinking, math and science knowledge and skills, history, geography and social knowledge and skills - basically functional literacy - are declining.
