This is a hard question, because I really need it, but I would have to consider the very real possibility that the person who lost it really needs it too! It is my understanding that if you turn in a bag of money like that the police, and if nobody claims it within like 30 days or something, that you then get to keep it legitimately. So I would probably do that, and hope for the best.

Lulu, it would be easy to keep it , but the right thing to do is to turn it in to your local police department , and to post a letter in the news paper, and if in a certain amount of time if someone doesn't claim it then the police should call you and tell you to come and pick it up that it's yours . That's what God would like for you to do. How would you like it if it was your money and someone just kept it ? Do the right thing and turn it in it was never yours to start with so it's not like you have the right to keep it from who it belongs to . Do what is in your heart and if you're having problems deciding PRAY about it and let GOD talk to you .

At the risk of getting publicly slaughtered for this - If I had seen an old person and knew it was their life savings, I'd hand it straight to them. If on the other hand, it was someone who I knew to be a pompous - hateful - ignorant - so and so, I'd keep it. If I hadn't a clue whose it was, I'd probably hold on to it for a while to see if they were offering a reward :-0

I would feel too guilty to keep it, so I would turn it in to the Police Station with the location of the area where I found it and etc...

i would give it to the needy but keep some for myself and pay off bills. someone being careless left a precious gift for someone else. if i saw the person drop it i would return it of course. if was completely impossible to find the owner i would do the first thing.

I'm old fashion on the matter of money. If I didn't earn it, it is not mine. I'd have to turn it in to the police. After all it could be someones grandmothers life savings.

You know, I would love to say that I would be all noble and turn it in to the police, but I have to say..... I'd pick it up. And I would hold on to it for a couple of weeks and watch the papers. See if anyone lost it or was looking for it. After a couple of weeks, all bets are off, that money would be mine.
I have way too many bills to pay to be giving up that much cash.
