You mean you just let your kids do as they please and act irresponsibly? Why are you not supervising their care of their pets? Did you tell them they should not breed the hamsters because they will end up with too many to care for properly. You need to seperate the sexes as soon as possible as they may start to breed among themselves at only 8 weeks of age.
Put notices in vets and shops and don't give them away for free unless you are happy for snake keepers to come and get them to be fed alive to snakes.
Then sit down and have a serious talk with your children about acting responsibly with their pets.

you will get over run with them if you dont seperate male and female. have you no pet shop near you what would take them.my sister did the same thing she ended up with loads and it took her ages to sort the problem out.she had cages and tanks everywhere.then the kids got bored with them.

I must say, I agree that what's happened is quite irresponsible... Please don't be irresponsible in your 'disposing' of those little creatures! Any animal refuge will take them in if you don't find suitable homes for them. I mean SUITABLE, it is your responsibility to make sure they go to good homes.
