By using their fingers to check the width of the cervix opening. Just as if you are getting a pap smear or other check-up, the doctor will probe the cervix and determine the size of the opening. They have been trained to judge the size of the opening by the diameter of the cervix opening in centemeters.

The doctor will insert fingers into your vagina and into the cervix to tell how dialated it is by how far apart his/her fingers are in the cervix.

To tell it how it really is, he/she sticks their fingers way up inside of you. It is really uncomfortable and can be painful. I had an exam today and it was painful. Its best to choose a female ob doctor while pregnant because their hands aren't as big as a male's hand.

each and each being pregnant is different. My first son grew to change into born at 32 weeks. My 2d being pregnant grew to change into with twins, my medical doctors began checking for dilation and effacement at 28 weeks the 2d time round. yet on a classic low chance being pregnant i'm extremely confident that they do initiate up checking round 36 weeks.
