First and foremost they need to take care of themselves and win out against the Ravens and Bengals.
They currently are essentially 2 games behind Jacksonville, Denver, and Cincy, because even though those teams are 8-6 and the Steelers are 7-7, the Steelers lose tiebreakers to all those teams. They need 2 of those teams to lose out. Cincy plays Denver this week, so they need Jacksonville to lose to New England, and the loser of the Cincy-Denver game to lose in week 17 as well.
The Jets may also have a tiebreaker over them based on conference record, I havent checked in to that.
Buffalo, Tennessee, and Kansas City are all 7-7 as well. Buffalo plays Tennessee this week, so that will knock one of them down to 7-8 and out of the race. The winner of that game may have a tiebreaker over the Steelers, so best case scenario would be for the winner there to lose week 17. As long as the Steelers win out, KC cant catch them since the Steelers beat the Chiefs head to head earlier this year.
There may be other possibilities, but this is the easiest way for the Steelers to get in:
WEEK 16:
Steelers over Ravens
Patriots over Jaguars
Dolphins over Jets
Bills over Titans
Broncos over Bengals
WEEK 17:
Steelers over Bengals
Broncos over 49ers
Chiefs over Jaguars
Ravens over Bills
Raiders over Jets
If all that plays out, the Broncos would be the 5 and the Steelers would be the 6. Like I said there could be other ways. It's highly highly highly unlikely, but oh well...

Jets have to loose at least one game the bungles must loose 2 games and the titans must loose another game, the Steelers have to win our 2 last games and I think we'll be pretty much in the play offs.
