People say:

Sex does it
Nipple stimulation does it
Walking does it
Castoroil does it
ETC.

Nothing is actually proven to induce labor except Pitocin (the synthetic version of oxytocin, the contraction causing hormone), which only a doctor/nurse can administer in the hospital.

I went to 41 weeks and had to be induced in the hospital. I think that if they hadn't induced, I would've given birth to a 10 year old...I guess she was just really comfy in there.

Best of luck with your labor and delivery!!! It won't be long now!!

You're barely full term. Give your baby a chance to fully develop. Lungs are last on the list, and it's best to let the baby "cook" a little longer to ensure they're fully developed when labor starts. Don't waste your time with castor oil or other miserable methods to try and induce labor. At least not yet. Wait until you're actually overdue!

my sister-in-regulation had her membranes stripped and went into hard paintings day after at present. yet once you're dialated to a 4, you ought to be interior the medical institution. i don't understand why they did no longer save you. i went into the medical institution whilst i replaced into 38 a million/2 weeks, and that they sent me residing house through fact i replaced into in basic terms dialated to a 2, yet 3 hours later, after 3 hours worth of nonstop screaming, we went back to the medical institution. whilst they checked me, they reported i replaced into dialated to a 4, and that i replaced into waiting to get my epidural, and that they positioned me interior the delivery room the place i stayed till i had my daughter thirteen hours later. yet in any case, the suitable element so which you would be able to do is walk. this might help the infant circulate down so which you wont ought to have a c-section, and it is going to additionally help the cervix open up greater. i think of, with a jiffy of walking, you will possibly pass into energetic hard paintings interior of a pair of hours.

Sexual intercourse, orgasm, and acupressure (massage) of the ankles.

Hormones in semen help to ripen the cervix, orgasm can trigger contractions of the uterus, and acupressure points in the ankles are sometimes useful in starting labor. This is what the nurse who taught our Childbirth Preparation Class told us. It's also important to NOT do these things without your Doctor's permission!

My husband and I made use of these methods the night before my water broke!

My advice is to wait. Baby is full term at 40 weeks. I know that you feel heavy and you can't sleep you can't sit down but believe me this is nothing. Just give yourself time and try to relax.
Peace and quiet is something you will miss later on. I wish you good luck.

they say if you have sex, the sperm can soften up your cervix and another method is asking your doctor to induce you. But other than those, you have to play the waiting game.
