I agree with you. Most of the films about aliens are making them out to be malevolant, greedy, creatures out to take the earth for themselves.
I'm almost tempted to say, for what we as humans have done, by making some animals extinct, wasting natural resources and generally ruining the planet - perhaps we should let them?
I once saw a documentary on tv where experts said they wouldn't look anything like us and devised what they thought aliens would look like...........nothing like the humanoid, two legged, two armed, two eyed, one headed creatures we see in so many films and stuff.
If you're really interested in the subject, go to the Cosmic Conspiracies site............its full of stuff.

An alien looking like a human wouldn't be very "alien", would it? As for movies with humanoid aliens who are not looking to conquer the planet, check out the Star Trek films or "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".

There is no chance that an alien race that evolved on a planet millions of miles away woud look or be any thing lide us. But if they were anything like us they would certainly want to take over the world.

Most movies are made with aliens being evil 'cause people don't know what real aliens are like and some people think it's fun to scare people out of their pants.

well thier are a few reasons to that 1. so we can distinguish between the two, 2nd if were talking scientificly and thier are other inteligent life forms the chance of them looking like us is so little its unbeliveable, almost imbposible. its just movie makers using thier own ideas. As for them taking over our world... thats cuz what good movie would be about 2 planets living in peace, the closest thing to that, is probably Star Wars and Star Trek but even thier is fighting thier. Its not for any good reason other than... its good TV, and good movies.

That would infer that we shared the same evolutionary track.
When two intelligent species meet only one will survive unless one species is willing to become totally subservient to the other. There can be only one ruling class. We can't even get along with each other let alone an alien race that is likely smarter than we are.

Those movies that have tried that approach (K-Pax, Brother From Another Planet, Starman) just don't seem to fare as well as, like Independence Day or Mars Attacks

Simple. We don't know them, what they look like, whether they are friendly or not. Our imagination begins to wonder, so all those preposterous images of alien comes into our mind. Since we never see them, let's make them unfriendly - makes it more exciting.

because they would have to adapt to a totaly different enviroment to us
say weve changed so that we can walk on to legs but stand upright because of the gravity here, on a different planet they might have a totaly strange way of living that is totally random to us with less gravity or w/e
