LOAN OFFICERS....what should one focus on when first starting out in the loan industry to be successful??

I recently acquired my real estate license in the bay area, California and I am going to work for a small mortgage company. I want to know from experienced and successful loan officers what should a beginner focus on in his first year in order to be as successful as he can be?
