Berlin not Belin your asking about, ya?
1. Before the wall came down in 1989?? West Berlin was a island in the middle of East Germany
2. Everyone who works in former west Germany pay what is called a unification tax, I live there and the tax comes out of my check, 8% I think.
3. It is the capital of the now united Germany.
4. Most west Germans would prefer to have it back the way it was before the wall came down.

1. East Berlin and West Berlin aren't even close together!
2. The hold the most awesome Oktoberfest in the world, millions of people (literally) flood the streets making it next to impossible to leave the city.
But as for any other facts, vagueness seems to prevail. As it was a long time ago when I was there.
