I have a 4.1 GPA, but my rank is low because my school is extremely competitive (it takes a 4.4 average to get into the top 10%). I live in Texas if that helps.

I have taken 9 AP classes, and I got a 1900 on my SAT.

My extracurriclars are as follows:

-Debate Team- This is what I spend most of my time in.
I qualified for, and participated in, the state tournament for 3 years and was captain of Lincoln Douglas Debate as well as Webmaster and Secretary of the team. I have won 1st place in 4 tournaments and 2nd in 2 tournaments and 3rd in 3 tournaments.

-Orchastra (3rd best orchastra in the state, although I only participated in the program for 2 years)

-Model U.N

-WorldQuest

I need a realistic view of my chances please!!

Oooh, tough. You sound kinda borderline. Mainly cuz of that retarded 10% law. Well, it's a good law in theory but they really shoulda put a cap on it or something.

The number of AP classes are good and I like the Debate Team stuff. Hopefully the success in tournaments will help get you in.

The SAT sounds a bit low tho.

Good luck.

if you are going to the top-dog colleges then you gotta work your butt off and also prove to the college that you arent a nerd and can do other sports like baseball, volleyball. Because being in orchestra and debate just means you can be an lawyer of musician but you have to prove yourself to the college and your peers

what is the upper limit of GPA?

UT-Austin shouldn't be that hard with those stats. Your extracurriculars are pretty good (considering that they are competitive).

Sounds good if you can write a compelling essay and explain why you want to major in whatever.
