It's great you want to be on your own. I would suggest you save as much money as possible. You said you want to get a job? Find a job first and stay w/ your family until you have you atleast $2K saved, or however much you feel you will need to move. I would say, 3 months after you are working, apply for a credit card with a small credit limit so you can build your credit because you are going to need credit if you apply for a place. After you have established good credit, work history, and money saved, start looking for an apartment. Take your time looking. Find out how much everything is and just make sure you will be able to afford everything before you sign a lease.

Learn about the thing's in life. I am not talking about Culture either, just how to pay bills, mortgage a house, finance a car, and look for a Job either in the news paper or go about town to look for one. The first step is get a local Job even if you hate it, put up with it until you get the money to get your learners. You won't need anybody with you if you over 18 to drive with you. Once that is done then get a Car and learn how to store your money up in a savings and checking account. Learn how to use the two and then go get a Home by morgaging it or just pay Rent an apartment that you can stand living in. Some are expensive and nice. Get some advice from your parents if they do not resent your decision of living on your own. If they do because i dont know, then my advice is get a friend to help information wise or financial wise. It is your decision.

First, do your research by learning to prepare.
Go use excel or a spreadsheet program to write down what does it takes to be "independant".

For example, if you want to rent and live on your own. What do you need.

Write down each item you need, then put a dollar amount that item need.

For example, if you rent a room, how much is it in the area you are living. Say 600 bucks. then you put down the number.

Add up all the items cost you need to be "independant". Then you know how much money you need to make.

Now, try to find jobs that will give you the money amount you need.
Ask yourself can you do those jobs to support yourself. If not, what kind of trainning you need.

Weirdly, I think being independent is having a good support system. You need to be able to open a checking account and try to put a little back out of each payday into a savings acct. You will need to cut out alot of extras that you may enjoy now but if it is important enough to you then you can do it!! Just being ready to be independent is half of the battle. Good LUCK!

To become independent you have to tell urself no matter what you can do it on ur own. No one is 100% independent but u can lessen ur dependency. When ever u feel the urge to reach out to someone for something u know u Can do...hold back and rethink it and once u start to do that more you'll be on the path to being INDEPENDENT.

being independent you will have to build your way up from working at a lower salary and save up for a car then get your license, and go to community college, than move out to an apartment and stop depending on people, you depend on people to much that why your asking this question because you depend on us, you need to take that first step first and do it without looking back.

Start out slow and never back track. If you need to go to school in order to get a job, then go. Don't quit. Go look for a job, fill out applications, and write down contact numbers. Actually call those numbers. Go get a temporary packet and start studying for the drivers test.

The first step to becoming more independent is to accomplsh something, like serve in the military, getting a college degree, paying your own bills, purchasing a vehicle, etc.

Nothing will earn you the respect of others than accomplishing something in life.

Best of luck, and don't give up!
