I do and I think it is slowing my reading speed. How do I speed up, with comprehension?

No, I don't-not since I first learned to read. The more you read, the more you can develop this skill. Perhaps a course of speed reading would help.

I do read every word in my head, but I don't think it slows me down any since I read extremely quickly. Speed reading courses often suggest you look at key words in a sentence (not every word) to skim and get the main concepts.

doing plenty of speed and comprehension will definitely improve your reading speed. or you may read books on how to improve your reading too and maybe ask avid readers how they manage to read a lot of books :)
