Yes, Santa Claus also known as Saint Nicholas, Sinter Klaas, Kris Kringle, Santy, or simply Santa.

Saint Nicholas, patron of children and sailors, of Greece, Sicily, and Russia, and of many other places and persons. Little is known of him, but he is traditionally identified as a 4th-century bishop of Myra in Asia Minor. His relics were stolen from Myra in the Middle Ages and taken to Bari, Italy. St. Nicholas is the subject of many legends. He is credited with restoring to life three boys who had been chopped up and pickled in salt by a butcher. Another famous story concerns his giving three bags of gold to the daughters of a poor man and thus saving them from lives of prostitution. Later tradition transformed the bags into three gold balls, which became the symbol of pawnbrokers. In the Netherlands and elsewhere St. Nicholas's feast (Dec. 6) is a children's holiday, appropriate for gifts. The English in colonial New York adopted from the Dutch the now unrecognizable saint, calling him Santa Claus (a contraction of the Dutch Sint Nikolaas). They moved his feast day to the English gift holiday, Christmas. The career and qualities attributed to Santa Claus are all recently acquired. Nicholas was known for his kindness. Santa Claus is an English version of his Dutch name Sinter Klaas. Saint Nicholas teaches the very important of giving and kindness. Sadly today there people dressed up as Santa Claus and teaching kids the wrong thing. Sadly today there people dressed up as Santa Claus and teaching children the wrong thing.

He was St. Nick the priest and that is all.

He is a real person, but he is dead now, so i don't know how his legend lives on and how it even affected Christmas.
I think the santa clause idea thing is stealing Christmas and is satan's work.

1. put santa's name with satan's.
2. he wears red, which is satan's color and color of the dragon.
3. he doesn't teach anything about JESUS and its like he has nothing to do with it.
4. it's not his birthday, but JESUS's birthday.
5. people use santa to aim at kids to sell things and commercial.
6. santa's Christmas teaches kids the wrong things, and making them greedy.

St Nick was real (as far as I know), but the Santa Claus is not.

Santa Claus is a Christmas traditional 'hero' type, and parents tell it to their kids for stories of such type.

Another Question: How do you explain the presents under the tree?
Answer: Parents put those under there while children are sleeping.

This question is very much (at least to me) like the statement in the Declaration of Independence...

"...the right to life. liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.."

Its the "pursuit" that's guaranteed..

The reality of Santa is truly personal choice...because the reality of Santa brings out the joy of the holidays in all of us...

Its the "pursuit of the joy of the holidays" that is guaranteed by believing in Santa...

So YES...
