I need to replace that flourescent light that lights the LCD screen on my IBM Thinkpad 770. The LCD itself works fine. If you hold a light up to it in a dark room, you can see that the screen is ok. I don't know how to take the screen apart and I need to know where to find a replacement flourescent bulb. Better yet, I need to know that type of bulb to get. Can anyone help me please?

You got to replace the entire LCD. On some LCD you might be able to replace the lamp without disassembling the LCD on others you can't or it;s not an option. I made the mistake once of just trying to replace the florescent lamp. I disassembled the LCD screen and replaced the light, however when I put it back together a tiny bit of dust got in between the plastic layers. I guess there can't be any dust particles in there area. Like if you see sunlight coming through a window and all of a sudden you see floating particles of dust. Took me hours to try to get it out. Don't remember if I could. Anyway IBM gives no FRU number for just the florescent tube. Make sure you match you LCD to the correct inverterboard.

Generally there are stickers over the screws on the sides of the LCD screen.
