Through good or bad influence we can shape a persons thinking or emotions, and actions. I think if a person is innocent to the worlds true colors, they could be influenced by a person who is very charming and persuasive. A person with experiences of the world. A person they may feel is exciting. This is a danger for many youths today. Especially because there are alot of men/women who are exploiting kids.
If a person with not enough knowledge of this world, is around another with alot of it, after a while the less knowledgeable person will learn the behavior, and thinking of the more knowledgeable person. What the educated person feels or believes will rub of on the person with less experiences.
So knowledge is the key, to not being so badly influenced by another. It must start in the home. Parent must teach their children what to look for in life, what is safe, and what is not.
The kids must be taught to be not naive. Then they will be able to make good choices in life. Parents can be a good influence, by having good actions, by making smart choices. Children are like sponges, and can absorb their surroundings. Good or bad.
We can all influence some one out their too, like our friends, our children, our bro. and sis., and even a stranger. Lets try to give them something positive to follow, a good example.
If you want to influence some one to do something positive, we should use good tactics, or have a good plan of action.
Get to know them, and what they like to do. Be a teachable person. Being honest is also a plus. Don't hang around people who are going to cause problems for you, and your friend, the person who could get easily influenced by them.

Personall, I like Dick2000's answer, and I'm not a guy. But for all around gender neutral way of influencing people, I recommend a gun . . . a really, really, big a-s-s gun, like a .44 or sawed off shotguns.
I mean all this love and modeling good behavior crap is good, but it takes sooooooooooo long. But with a gun you immediately have their attention whether they are men or women and they will be influenced by anything you want to tell them.

I'm a Viet Nam era vet... but not in the military. While on duty in Cambodia, the CIA headquerters had a large plaque on their wall which all who entered could not miss. It consisted of a large mailed fist, holding a scrotum dripping blood, with lightning bolts in the background. Printed around the border was their motto, which read: "When you got them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow." This had a great influence on everyone who viewed it.

I think the best way is to listen to them, really listen, without thinking about what your response might be. Then rephrase what it is they say, until they agree that you understand. Only then can you influence them, by telling and showing them that what you want fits what they say they want. They'll feel understood, and then likely to do what you want.
