Nail polish can discolor your nails, and also prevents your nails from "breathing" naturally. I personally do not use nail polish all the time, but only on special occasions. If you prefer to use daily, it may be good to take a break now and then.

Some people use a nail buffer to shine their nails without polish, which allows the nails to breathe. I have heard arguments for and against, that buffing either weakens nails or that it increases circulation and promotes nail growth

Doubtful. Nail polish remover on the other hand might (over a period of extended use) as it's a solvent.

i wear nail polish a lot too and personally i don't see it ruining my nails..you jus need to make sure your wearing a very good base coat so dark colors don't seep through

YES!! The esters in the polish, strip the natual oils from your nails!!

Nail polish can't necessarly ruin your nails but it can discolor them.

no sometimes it adds nutrients. but if you wear it a lot and are outside a lot in the summer sometimes your nails turn a little yeallow when you remove the polish but it fades in a day or so

Sometimes, when you remove it, it makes your nails rough or peels them a bit- but just use a nail buffer on them, and they'll be smooth again!

no, acrylic nails can do quite a number though

i do not believe they can. However if you put polish on and not a base coat, if the color is dark, it can stain them.
