Civilization (just "Civ" to its many fans) is a turn-based strategy game. Epic in scope, it covers human history from the dawn of humanity to the (projected) colonization of space. Now in its fourth iteration (Civilization IV), the game is considered a classic (probably THE classic) example of the turn-based strategy genre.

The game is (and has been since it was first released) wildly popular, and in my view justifiably so. It is great fun to play if you are at all interested in history. It is also customizable for anyone with any degree of technical skills, particularly in the current version (Civ IV). The game does have combat between units, but is flexible enough that you can play aggressively or mostly concentrate on building up other aspects of your civilization. Even when playing peacefully you must keep up your defenses, though, or you will be annihilated.

It feels like an intriguing mission. When inspecting western and islamic civilizations it's predominant to maintain in brain that the 2 have been separated through tradition, geography and so much big the European Renaissance which made approach for the Enlightenment. The islamic civilization and the western civilizations each had their respective golden a long time, and their darkish a long time. Your mission sounds vast perhaps too vast. Perhaps you'll be able to take a exact detail of each civilizations. Hope your mission comes out a luck. Some different elements that experience stimulated each civilizations: Crusades, colonialism, muslim conquests into europe, sharia legislation vs. cannon legislation respectively.

This is a pure thinking man's game. If you have an affinity for the human journey through history, this game is paradise. But if you're into bang bang shot em up...play something else. Its like comparing checkers to chess.

You start with a group of stone age settlers and grow a society to the beginning of the space age. You manage an economy, a military, science and education...you learn about art, humanities, history and basic geography.

Yes, it does have wars, but they are mostly strategic.

You create squadrons of soldiers (pike-man in the early game and nukes later on) and you send them into enemy territory to take over or destroy cities.

While you are doing this barbarians and other nations are doing the same to you.

You can also send diplomats to spy on other nations cities.

It's very cerebral and not much one on one action.
