It's normal to have lighter periods on the pill.

But.......

I was on the pill for several years, missed ONE pill and had sex exactly once (boyfriend was out of town). We are the proud parents of two year old boy!

If it's time for your period, a pregnancy test should be accurate.

I have been on the pill forever and EVERY month i mess up the pills is some way or another and what usually happens is my period gets messed up in one way or another.

If i miss one or two pills within 1 week before the "sugar pills" i get my period early, but then when i "catch up" the period doesnt stop, but lasts all the way to the week i am supposed to really get it!!

If i skip one or two pills 2 weeks before the "sugar pills" i start getting symptoms of a period, but when i "catch up" they go away.

Basically, as i am sure you know, you are feeding your body hormones all month for 3 weeks and when you take the "sugar pills" you are stopping the hormones and telling your body to give you your period. If it is soon before those sugar pills and you skip one, your body might think "time to give a period" then start and have to stop when you take the pills you misses...but it cant stop all of the way...make sense?

I was AWFUL with my pills, but i knew my body VERY well and knew if i was protected or not. You will get used it it and possibly try another method. THis is my first month after many years of trying another BC option...the NUVARING. I am so excited!!

If you missed a couple in a row and then started bleeding, then it's probably just breakthrough bleeding which is normally light.

After taking birth control for a while, your body doesn't bother building up the lining of your uterus as much, so your periods get lighter. I only spot lightly during my period - only need a pantyliner a day for three days.

This doesn't necessarily mean you are pregnant. Birth control pills often result is lighter, shorter periods. If you are still uncertain, I recommend you buying a pregnancy test or seeing your doctor.

Congratulations! Let us know if it is a boy or girl.

Better yet, twins! That usually happens when you miss a couple of pills.
