Which do you prefer? Personally I prefer The Lord of the Rings, and I am really annoyed when Eragon fans say the book did not copy it. J.R.R. Tolkien was a literary genius. I did read Eragon, and after getting past the fact it was a rip-off ( Eragon=Aragorn?) it was a decent read. The movie sucked, though. So what do you think?

I mean the books. Peter Jackson did work wonders with the movies, and that steaming pile of dragon dung that is Eragon stole 100 minutes of my life. But I meant the books.

LOTR or Eragon?

Is this even serious? Is it even possible to compare the writings of a 15 year old weenie that plagiarizes his story, plot, and character names to a literary genius?

These two are not comparable by any nature. CP was obviously a LOTR fan (and a Star Wars fan) but don't confuse that with being remotly in the same league as the writings of Tolkien. If he heard this he would roll over in his grave.

I really liked the books Eragon and Eldest. I haven't seen the movie, but I thought the commercial made it seem like a direct rip-off of LOTR. The book's plot is similar to Star Wars too, but I still think it's a good story. In the second book, I found myself somehow more interested in Roran's side than Eragon's. I haven't read Tolkien's trilogy, although I have read the Hobbit. I just couldn't bring myself to focus on his work, though. Like the entire beginning of the Two Towers is the group running after the hobbits that got captured. They run for pages on end, and see something that kind of looks like rocks, but turns out to be Uruk-Hai bodies, and then they're running again. And I really thought the Eagles rushing in to save the day was a bit coincidental, especially in the third LOTR film.

so some distance as books flow, Lord of the jewelry is the extra suitable one in my opinion. Eragon became sturdy pondering how previous Paolini became whilst he began. The LOTR video clips have been executed somewhat properly. lots of the characters in fantastic condition Tolkiens descriptions, and prevalent the e book became accompanied as superb as could be predicted. The Eragon action picture strayed far flung from the e book in all accessible procedures!!! i think of Arya, Brom, and Angela did no longer in fantastic condition their characters ok. The action picture, i concept, became a shame to Paolini. Oh properly.

Lord of the Rings all the way, Eragon is pathetic. The older books have a flare that newer books have lost over the ages, because of that, people take the plots from other books.

LOTR is by far. I have read both and while there are varying similarities, you always have to bow down to the classic. The movies were fantastic, not true to the book, but definately worth the 13 hours of viewing.

I personally choose LotR.
I've read both. Love both. But because Tolkien pretty much created the genre everything is going to be similar. If you read any fantasy book there are similarities, you can't get around it.
