my senior year in high school my father had terminal cancer.....we were all focusing on him and trying to make him have a good time. to enjoy the holiday and not focus on how it may be his last one. (it was) i didn't care if i got anything.....my parents did get me things..i knew they would but i thought it would be just like every other year. they were more practical with their gift giving...always things i needed instead of console games and material stuff that i would forget. since everything was so hectic with my fathers illness over the past couple of years i didn't get my class ring or a school jacket. we couldn't afford it. and i wasn't tripping too much because i knew why we couldn't get those things.
that Christmas my father called the make a wish foundation.....and they came to make my Christmas special. i got a class ring, a school jacket and lots of other things that 16 year olds wish for at Christmas time....but the best of all was the gift my father gave me. a letter telling me how proud he was of me. and how much he was going to miss watching me grow up. i will never forget the Christmas of 1993.

it is very funny but the best/worst gift i can remember above all the others in my almost 60 years of christmas's was when i was 10 or so. i was crazy into horses and there was this plastic horse at the drug store i wanted and i thought my brother had bought it for me. when i opened this great big box, in the bottom was a cinder block with a jaw breaker attached to it with a sign that said 'rock candy'. i was so hurt i couldn't see straight, but i'll remember it the rest of my life

My first husband somehow managed to keep a pomeranian puppy quiet for 3 days in a unused rear bedroom of our apartment. On Christmas morning we opened our presents under the tree and I tried hard not to be ungrateful and show any disappointment, but he'd only gotten me small tokens wrapped in huge boxes and I was very frustrated almost to the point of tears. Then he said "Oh, I almost forgot," and went in the back room and came back with another big box. I was scared to be tricked again, but when I opened the lid, it was the most adorable jet black pomeranian puppy I had ever seen in my life! She was quiet and cuddly, and I named her Noel.

My Uncle?
He was in Iraq and we had no idea, but last year Christmas Eve he rang the doorbell, me and my brother went to answer it and it was him!!!
