I recently purchased a 93 Honda Civic. Have been driving it about 1 month with no problems. On the way to work I noticed temp gauge running hot. I stopped the car and heard boiling under hood. Checked and water was boiling into overflow tank. It seems electric fan was not turning on. After I got it home, I hooked a jumper wire to the fan sensor switch and the fan kicked on. I replaced the sensor thinking it was defective. worked fine for two days and now is overheating again. It seems like the fan is not kicking on when it should. I turn on the heater to full, and the temp goes right down, (and roasts me out of the car).I hope and pray it is something simple like a thermostat. Is there anything I am missing?

could possibly be a stuck thermo, but prob not. jump the connection goin to the fan, also check coolant level in the radiator and make sure you overflow tank is full as recommended. check your engine coolant temp sensor, thermoswitch, thermosensor temperature gauge sending unit...this might be the problem. email me at my address listed below an i will provide complete diagrams and instruction as to checking your components.

a good thank you to verify the top gasket is: WITH THE ENGINE thoroughly chilly, do away with the radiator cap and make useful there is coolant, initiate the automobile and seem interior the radiator. Rev the motor gently and notice if bubbly foam varieties interior the coolant. in case you get a team of tiny bubbles interior the coolant you likely have a foul gasket. different issues that could reason overheating. Thermostat... ($10 area) undemanding to interchange. Timing out of adjustment.... electric powered fan no longer coming near, or working sluggish, water pump failure (no longer likely except leaking) attempt those good success!
