okay. i just want an opinion. anyways, im legally blind and in school. i laugh about being blind all the time with my camp friends. they are also blind. i've been going to blind camp for years now and every year, we get into the same conversation about people not liking us laughing at ourselve and making jokes about it. they say "its not good to laugh about things like this." i tell ask them if they'd rather see me moping around being all depresses (which i dont). so i just wanna hear someone's opinion. o and has this ever happened to u guys??? thanks a lot!

Sometimes it makes things easier for us when we laugh about it instead of crying. I think many people draw the line tho, on what they consider"serious" diseases or afflictions, such as blindness. I don't think that others should have too much to say about you joking about your own condition!! The people who complain are likely trying to protect you or others from the harm that might come to them from overhearing the jokes or remarks and being insulted or hurt by them.Either that or they cannot bear the thought of you joking about something they consider so "serious", but your condition is a part of your life, not theirs, so as long as you are not overtly offending anyone in away that makes them feel bad, I would say you should be Free to joke and laugh with your friends on any topic you wish.

Well, I wonder how you are doing all this and you are blind?

Be that as it may, I would ask the people who have a negative comment about your humor if they are blind? If they aren't, now can they judge what is funny to a blind person?

if we cannot laugh at our own short-comings then we are really fooling ourselves. you should tell them to go screw themselves.

for the previous answers, legally blind does not mean you cannot see. it just means your vision is not that great.
